Target Darts- Dance With the Devil
Role: DIRECTOR
With World Champion Dimitri Van den Bergh joining the fold, Target Darts wanted a film to accompany this major signing. Played out during a live international reveal, the treatment played off of Dimi’s persona as ‘The Dream maker’. His dreams are the thing of nightmares for others.
AXA- Lead the Future
Role: DIRECTOR
Not wanting a regular corporate video, AXA XL approached me to direct a series of films, the first being this; an introduction to the Lead the Future Program, where current senior leaders pass on advice and personal insight to those about to step up to management roles.
The treatment stressed the importance of capturing these moments with a candid, one-to-one tone, with a certain approachable intimacy.
Script Development
Role: DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE
My first love is film, and there is no doubt that it has played a hugely important part in my work as a creative. Working as a First Assistant Director, I tended to join the creative process at the final stages before overseeing filming, and this is something that jarred a little. If I was about to film Draft 16 of a script, I often wondered about the other 15. What was the first draft like?
I have brought the practical knowledge built over years in production and my passion for great narrative together with my strengths in spotting the potential of an idea. It’s a dream combination that I have been working towards for some time, and I am honoured to be working with international producers and production companies to discover new scripts, as well as directly with writers, collaborating to shape and develop story and dialogue.
Shiny shiny
I’m pleased to have been once again invited to act as a judge (Film category) at the Creative Circle Awards 2022. I’m looking forward to seeing how directors and production companies have continued to work around the shoot restrictions of 2021. (Bribes welcome, by the way)
It runs in the family
Being home more than usual during the pandemic, the kids have seen me script writing, storyboarding, and editing more than they normally would. A wonderful benefit in this is that it seems to have sparked an interest in directing, especially in my son. He’s been dropping treatments on my desk for ideas he’s had, and when he got a skateboard for his 8th birthday, he suggested capturing his new hobby on film. “Daddy, can we make a skate video?” You’re damn right we can.
